Another opportunity for women scientists to improve their writing skills in prestigious scientific journals

Tashkent State University of Economics and research company ERGO Analytics, under the patronage of Coca Cola Uzbekistan, launched HIVE (Highly Innovative Virtual Education) free training for women scientists to improve their skills in writing scientific articles in English for the international peer-reviewed journals Scopus and Web of Science.

This initiative is a continuation of the UNDP project “Expanding the rights and opportunities of women in public administration and socio-economic life” and the educational project aimed at achieving gender equality in science, organized by the Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan. After all, according to UNESCO, only 33% of scientists in the world are women.

Academician Ibrahim Abdurahmanov, minister of innovative development, noted that “introduction of initiatives like HIVE allows to increase the potential of women in science, and also serves to advance the economy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in global innovation ratings.”

Within the HIVE project, the first webinars will be opened by scientists from the University of Connecticut, Moscow Higher School of Economics and Princeton University. The first results of the HIVE project in 2021 were that the participants published their scientific articles in the North American Journal of Psychology, Energies, International Sociology, International journal of energy economics and policy, Tourism Review International and a number of other foreign scientific journals. A number of HIVE project participants received invitations to participate in international scientific conferences in European countries.

Project leader Raufkhan Salakhojaev is the author of more than 40 articles published in the leading journals in Scopus and Web of Science, professor of TDIU and AKFA University. He is a multiple winner of the “Most Cited Scientist” award from Elsevier (Netherlands) and the winner of the “Fame” medal for his contribution to science.

The rector of TDIU, professor Kungirotboy Sharipov, highly appreciated the importance of initiatives like HIVE, because improving the skills of teachers of HEIs to promote scientific research will significantly strengthen the academic potential of the educational system and increase the position of HEIs in international rankings.

Supporting women and their professional development has been one of the main priorities of Coca-Cola’s social programs around the world, – noted Nozi Orifjonova, manager of public relations and communications of The Coca-Cola Company in Uzbekistan. – Contributing to the development of women, especially women engaged in scientific activities, is the most sustainable approach to support the development of local communities. The reason we support this project is that the development of science is a long-term global trend, and HIVE, in addition to supporting women, also serves the integration of Uzbekistan into the international scientific community.

One of the participants of the project, Feruza Askarova, a senior teacher of TDIU, says: “Participation in this initiative allowed me to strengthen my skills in conducting scientific research. As a result, I was able to revise my scientific article and send it to participate in an international conference.”
