The “E-Learning” platform has been established at the Asian Development Bank, and it is possible to participate in courses on the basis of membership. Students who successfully complete the courses and pass the exams will receive a certificate from the Asian Development Bank.
Nuriddin Avazov, a student of the Faculty of Economics of the Tashkent State University of Economics, attended the course “The Role of Central Banks and Financial Supervisory Authorities in Governing Sustainable Finance” and received a certificate from the Asian Development Bank for successfully completing the course. .
The course was taught by Professor Ulrich Volz. Today, Ulrich Volz is the Director of the Center for Sustainable Finance and Professor of Economics at the University of London (SOAS). Also, Ulrich Volz works as a Senior Research Fellow, German Development Institute.
The course examines the importance of climate change and other environmental issues for Central Banks and Financial Supervisory Authorities. During the course, the impact of climate change on macroeconomic and financial stability of countries will be discussed. In addition, during the course, the policies implemented in the countries and the directions of increasing its effectiveness, the activities and development directions of the world will be considered.
The course is divided into 4 sections:
- Why should central banks and financial regulators care about climate change and environmental issues? (Why Should Central Banks and Financial Supervisors Care About Climate Change and Environmental Challenges?);
- The Potential Impacts of Climate Change on Macroeconomic and Financial Stability (The Potential Impacts of Climate Change on Macroeconomic and Financial Stability);
- What can central banks and financial regulators do to strengthen sustainable financing? (What Could Central Banks and Financial Supervisors Do to Boost Sustainable Finance?);
- Emerging Practices and the Way Forward.
On the basis of participation in the course, it is possible to study world practice, to be aware of political, economic and social situations in the world. Also, by attending the course, economic knowledge will be increased and it will be possible to study the areas that will be the focus of the Asian Development Bank’s activities in the future.
